Mai Nguyen Phuc
I joined 3VC in October 2023 and am responsible for fund and portfolio accounting, investor relations, and fund operations. Before 3VC, I worked in the Investment Banking Division at J.P. Morgan in London and in the M&A Transaction Services team at Deloitte in Bratislava.
I have a B.A. with honors from the University of Exeter and a Masters in Finance from the University of Cambridge, where I was a member of the St. Catharine’s College and a Benavitch Scholar.
My decision to join the 3VC team was because of my desire to help and learn from the many ambitious and passionate founders here in the CEE and DACH regions. Growing up in Slovakia, I have strong personal ties to this part of the world and am inspired by the talent found here.
I’m a keen golfer. What I enjoy most about golf is that it’s a challenging sport that always keeps me thinking about how best to execute my shots. On the surface, it may seem like a simple game—but in reality, there are many factors you have to consider. For me, it’s a game of risk management. This is why I don’t like to watch others play: you can’t know what they’re thinking; how they’re calculating their risks versus rewards.
A quote that has always spoken to me is “This too shall pass”. For me, it conveys the two-sided nature that is present in nearly everything. No matter how good or how bad something is, all things eventually have an end.
